SOURCE: PATS GRONKOWSKI DO NEW DEAL

Pro Football Talk is reporting the Patriots and Tight End Rob Gronkowski have come to terms on a new deal.  Rob who is entering his third season on his rookie deal has already broke and set NFL records for single season TD's  and receptions for a Tight End. Details still to come.

My take- Gronkowski earns every penny he gets and is already considered by many as the best tight end in football.  Not only does he play at an extremely high level he is a high character guy with his volunteer work and is a fan favorite.  Mr. Kraft and Coach Belichick acknowledge this and give him a bump in salary.  The next question will be when will they extend him to ensure he is in Foxboro long term? Keep it locked down here on Premium Pats!

UPDATE: Adam Schefter is reporting a Six year extension worth up to 54 million.  Added with his current deal the Pats have Gronk locked up for the next eight seasons.  This is a very smart move by the Pats locking up the best tight end in the game for virtually the next decade.  This allows the Pats to use their franchise tag in upcomming seasons on guys like Welker and Hernandez when his deal expires in the next two seasons. Rob Gronkowski is now the highest paid tight end in the history of the NFL.  Rightfully so!

Just a thought-Imagine the celebration Gronk made after signing the new deal.
